Today I am selling an original Prussian WAR MEDAL for Combatants from the Napoleonic Wars 1813 – 1814. It is made of or bronze. The medals were famously made from captured and melted-down French cannons. There is inscription on the edge of this medal: “AUS ERBOBERTEM GESCHUTZ” – from captured cannon. It is battlefield relic – metal detecting find. The obverse features the cross pattee with rays between the arms , and the date – 1813 centrally within a laurel wreath. After Waterloo battle this medal was produced with 2 dates together: 1813 and 1815. The reverse displays the crowned cipher of King Friedrich Wilhelm III above the inscription : Preussens tapfern kriegern* (Prussia’s brave warriors). SIZE: diameter – 29mm. Weight: 14.2g. It is in used condition but please remember – it was in the ground over 200 years! The condition and all details you will find in the pictures. 100% genuine item from early 19th Century.
I AM SELLING MORE COLLECTABLE MILITARY MEMORABILIA FROM THE NAPOLEONIC ERA.
In the excellent book titled: “WATERLOO RELICS” by Gilles Bernard and Gerard Lachaux, Histoire & Collections 2005, a very similar medal found on the battlefield of Waterloo can be seen. See page 36.
THE ONLY METHOD OF PAYMENT IS PAYPAL. I WILL SEND THE ITEM WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER PAYMENT RECEIVED.
Would look great in any Militaria Collection. 100% genuine !!!
